Internships and Hands-on Learning

The University of Arizona’s 100% Engagement program draws attention to these real-world experiences on your transcript so potential employers can’t miss your relevant industry experience.

There are seven competency areas: Civic and Community Responsibility, Diversity and Identity, Global and Intercultural Comprehension, Innovation and Creativity, Interdisciplinarity, Professionalism, and Sustainability.

Engagement courses for Sustainable Plant Systems, include:

  • PLS/PLP 399, PLS/PLP 499 Independent Study
  • PLS/PLP 392, PLS/PLP 492 Directed Research
  • PLS/PLP 393, PLS/PLP493 Internship

Throughout these courses, you will work in faculty research settings and campus facilities, including the Campus Arboretum, the Controlled Environment Agriculture Center, the UA Herbarium, and industry partners in public gardens, educational institutes, sustainable agriculture, government and nonprofit organizations.
